Canadian Waste & Recycling Expo
International Centre, Toronto
November 5-6, 2008

Canadian Waste & Recycling Expo Focused on Best Practices and Sustainability

The Canadian Waste & Recycling Expo (CWRE), Canada’s only trade show serving the waste, recycling and public works markets, marked its 11th exhibition with its Nov. 5-6 trade show at the International Centre in Toronto.

The event drew a total of 2,661 attendees who experienced the products, services and technologies offered by exhibitors, learned about industry innovations at the seminar program and networked with peers during the many special events.

“After 30 years of working in the waste industry, I think this is the best Canadian show for seeing and being seen if you are a waste professional,” said Bob Hassard of Burlington Refuse Equipment.

In the exhibit hall, 194 exhibitors from across Canada and the United States focused on all aspects of collection, hauling and processing of waste; materials recycling; and municipal recycling programs.

“CWRE provides a value-added opportunity for exhibitors to meet qualified buyers in a professional environment,” said Jeffrey Swertfeger, director of marketing and communications at Oshkosh Corporation.

Seminars and Special Events
CWRE’s seminar series included presentations on topics ranging from zero waste, environmental waste reduction, new developments in environmental law and regulatory changes to markets for compost, advances in curbside waste collection, greenhouse gas offset credit marketing and strategic planning for waste management.

Special events included various association luncheons and the exhibit floor reception, as well as the recycling facility and waste disposal tours throughout Southern Ontario, sponsored by the Ontario Waste Management Association.

“As Canada’s premier waste, recycling and public works show, we strive to showcase the best the industry has to offer,” said Arnie Gess, show manager for CWRE. “From our educational seminars and special events, to our exhibitors and attendees, the quality of this year’s show exceeded our expectations.”

CWRE organizers are already planning the show’s next edition, which will be held in Vancouver on Oct. 28-29, 2009. For further information on CWRE, please visit www.cwre.ca.
